HappyCast 4: The 4th Happy City Podcast
April 12, 2011 09:59 AM PDT
Thank you for downloading the 4th 'happycast' from the Happy City team in Bristol. In this episode, we talk Figures and Firsts. How does the UK Government measure wellbeing and happiness? Paul Allin, Director of the Measuring Wellbeing Project for the Office For National Statistics (ONS) talks exclusively to us. In a series of firsts, we went off to the national launch of Action For Happiness at www.actionforhappiness.org. Unfortunately their website couldn't cope with the avalanche of interested visitors on the day of the launch but you can watch BBC TV reports of the April 12th event here. Another first: Happy City Bristol celebrated its first full year as a community interest company. We're small - but perfectly formed. Happy birthday to us! To hear the BBC's Book of the Week about happiness, listen to the readings of 'The Warmth of Your Heart Keeps Your Body from Rusting", go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0107x01. For information on the Office for National Statistics and their National Advisory Forum on Measuring Wellbeing, see www.ons.gov.uk/well-being. January 24, 2011 01:51 PM PST
It might seem a bit late for a "Happy New Year" podcast but there's a reason we've waited until now. Statistically, today (January 24th 2011) is apparently the most depressing day of the whole year. That's why we thought we'd give you a special antidote to Blue Monday. Our latest 'happycast' looks to brighter things as we go out and about to ask the latest "Happy City Podcast Question: “What is it about Bristol that makes you happy?”. We'll also listen in as the team talks happiness on our local BBC radio service, catch up with the project's first roadshow in Easton, and bring you up to date with a newsflash that reminds you why Bristolians have lots to be proud of. You can listen to our latest podcast right now by streaming it from this page. You can also download it to your mobile device or computer for listening later. Get it automatically by subscribing via iTunes and spread the good stuff around by sharing it on Facebook, Google or Yahoo. For more, see the website at www.happycity.org.uk. Enjoy it. – KYLE (Podcast guy and Happy City Advisory Group member) The Happy City Podcast #2: Happy Volunteering
November 18, 2010 10:22 AM PST
Good news for everyone with an mp3-playing phone, computer or iPod-type carryable thingie. The latest Happy City Podcast is available right now. Podcast 2 focuses on volunteering (we're always after more of those) so in this podcast we 'meet' our new intern Majid, hear why student volunteers Rosie and Alessandra are so interested in Happy City, and find out from Volunteering Bristol's Jenny Idle about how volunteering benefits the volunteer's career - and makes them happier. We'll also discover why being happy makes for good business in my exclusive interview with international social entrepreneur Dan Lubetsky and catch up on the concept of Happy Communities with Liz Zeidler.
